National Rebuilding Day

For the past five years, Chicago Sinai Congregation has participated in National Rebuilding Day which is always on the last Saturday of April.  Rebuilding Together, Chicago Metro sponsors this city-wide event which brings 3000 unskilled volunteers and skilled labor together to rebuild homes in the Chicago Metropolitan area.

Our 2017 Project

This year Sinai sponsored a retired widow, who raised 8 children, and who worked in an auto factory for 34 years. Sinai volunteers helped to make her home in the Austin community, safe, warm and dry by installing new kitchen cabinets and countertops, upgrade her bathroom to be ADA accessible, rebuild her stairs for safe access, replace 7 windows that were broken, and clean debris from her yard.   Sinai members both skilled and unskilled made a huge difference in the quality of life for our homeowner, who was absolutely delighted with the improvements.
