Mitzvah Day

The Mitzvah day committee overseas planning for this central day in the life of the Temple. Held each Spring, Mitzvah Day incorporates more than 20 separate programs. We need a lot of volunteers to make this day a success!

High Holy Days Food Drive

This drive collects and distributes canned goods to soup kitchens in Chicago.

Chanukah Toy and Clothing Drive

Collect and distribute clothing and toys for the needy over the winter holiday season. Chairs: Merle Terry

Sunday Supper at Fourth Presbyterian Church

Reba Blick continues to staff this popular monthly program of cooking and serving supper to over 100 needy people at Fourth Presbyterian Church with a rotating group of Sinai congregants. The program is a truly ecumenical “mitzvah” for both congregations, with members working side by side to assist the needy. Russian Connection with the village of Tambov

Last year we began a Russian Connection through Chicago Action for Soviet Jewry. We hope to widen the scope of this connection by collecting over-the-counter medications, school supplies and winter clothing to be sent there as well as matching individual members of our congregation wit hcitizens of Tambov through emails.

The Caring Committee

This committee is the voice of Sinai to members in need. For example, the Caring Committee provides care baskets to elderly Sinai members, and contacts members facing major life changes.

Hirsch High School

Members of this committee, chaired by Pam Tate-Stavinoga host a motivational luncheon for students attending the Emil G. Hirsch High School, named for one of the most influential rabbis in Sinai's history. A scholarship is awarded to the class valedictorian.

Partners in Education

We would very much like to assist with the tutoring at 4th Presbyterian Church through Partners in Education - this meets evenings during the school year. We are currently looking for a Project Coordinator. Contact the temple office for more information.

Community Concerns Fund

Distributes funds collected during the High Holy Days Community Concerns drive - funds are provided to various local, national, and international organizations.
