On Sunday, October 21, we will join in celebrating the Heidi Kon's Tenth Anniversary as our Director of Religious Education. In her decade with us, our children have benefited immeasurably from her devotion to Jewish learning. So much of what has been achieved over the past decade is directly attributable to Heidi's skills, dedication and love of Jewish learning. She is my cherished colleague and friend.
Both in the classroom as well as in countless one-on-on experiences, she has had a profound effect on both children and adults. Heidi is so well deserving of our appreciation. We hope that many members and students, past and present, will want to be on hand to honor our beloved Heidi. You will receive your invitation shortly and I hope you will make every effort to attend.
With the High Holy Days now behind us, it is time to look ahead to the year that lies ahead. As I hope you read in the Sinai Preview that was distributed at services, we have a very full programmatic year planned. The single greatest innovation will be our enhanced Sunday schedule. "Sundays at Sinai" should add much vitality to the Sunday mornings. My fondest hope is that many of our religious school parents will decide to remain at the Temple while their kids are in class, and you will avail yourself of the many opportunities for enrichment that will be offered. Guest speakers, musical events, Torah study with the rabbis and, of course, our popular Family Worship Services should provide variety and stimulation for just about everyone. If you do not quite recall what is happening at Sinai on a particular Sunday, you will receive a weekly email informing you of the entire weekend's services and events.
Finally, I wish to express my personal appreciation to the Sinai staff, especially the office personnel and the custodians, for all that they did to make our High Holy Days services such a complete success. The Temple looked beautiful and everything went perfectly, due in large measure, to their devotion and attention to every last detail. Although we of the professional staff tend to receive all the accolades, the truth is that the members of the Temple staff are the ones who deserve the lion's share of credit. We are truly blessed and I am especially grateful. So to Jill Epstein, Dawn Owens, DeeDee Dukes, Cathie Sekendur, Kris Rosen, Harold Donald, Danny, Ron Shines, and Adam Rosen, thank you so much on behalf of the entire Sinai family.
