More than 500 couples have participated in the Outreach Program since its inception. One-fourth of our members are interfaith couples. They are here not because one or the other was forced to convert or to pledge that their children would be raised as Jews. Rather, they are here because they found in Sinai a community of faith committed to helping them on their spiritual journey together.
Sinai's Outreach response to the interfaith opportunity stands as testimony to the power of compassion, caring and open minds, open hearts and open doors in addressing these concerns. We invite and encourage prospective interfaith couples to attend the Sunday morning Outreach Program, and to discuss our approach with our Rabbis and interfaith members. This program is not about proselytizing or conversion. It is about spiritual need. The only requirement for those who seek to enter into an interfaith marriage at Sinai is that they make a serious commitment to attend to their unique spiritual needs and that they agree to participate in the Outreach Program for one year for the Outreach calendar. If you or someone you know would like to be added to our mailing list, please call the office at 312/867-7000.
We encourage you to read the sermons of our Rabbis on this sensitive and often-emotional topic to understand how our Outreach Program has evolved and grown.
